Eagle's Nest
The official e-newsletter of Corona Elementary
October 5, 2020.
As we start our third month of the school year, I continue to be amazed at the many efforts and sacrifices our parents are making to ensure that their students are benefiting and advancing in Online Learning. Your decisions to support your child’s education to the best of your ability will not only help them in present time, but will also send numerous other messages about what is possible when you find a way to make the best of “bad situation.” I also appreciate the support you are providing our teachers and our school’s goals! From following us regularly on Class Dojo and staying informed, responding to feedback and requests to improve engagement and participation, and supporting our school’s vision and direction during these difficult times. We see and appreciate how you are prioritizing your child’s education by working with your school to help us all grow and learn during this time of Covid-19. Stay strong, stay the course, and stay safe!

Ms. Elena Ravelo
Corona Office Manager
My name is Elena Ravelo, I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, CA. I am a proud graduate of Garfield High School, where I met my high school sweetheart Sam and married in 1998. I attended Pasadena City College where I obtained an AA in Business Management and also attended Cal State LA and graduated with a BA in Business. After graduating from college I worked for an Accounting Firm for 4 years as a Union Auditor. I always thought that I would work in the business sector, however after working for the firm for 4 years, I realized that I wanted to make a change. After searching for what my next job would be, I was hired to work for Vocational Training and worked with high school students and adults for almost 13 years. I was then hired by Ontario Montclair School District in 2013, when I started working at Corona Elementary. I’m a mother of twin girls Mia and Andria who are 15 years old and they are my pride and joy. We love spending time as a family, and consider ourselves foodies. One of the fun things to do as a family is to travel and indulge in delicious food. I love the outdoors, walks on the beach, and just grateful for life. One of my favorite things about working at Corona is to see the students every morning as they walk into school. Working in the office which is the hub of our school, we are constantly busy. However, the fact that my position allows me to interact with students, parents, teachers, and staff is one of my greatest joys. Unfortunately, not having students at school right now due to the pandemic, makes me miss it even more. My advice to parents is to always be involved in your child’s education. If we have an event, join us! If your child receives an award, join us! There is no better way to celebrate your student than to encourage them by attending school events and to be involved. I know that this seems so far from us right now, but I know that we will come together again.

This Month's SEL Theme
SELF-MANAGEMENT: Mindfulness and Stress Management
During the month of October, your child’s SEL instruction will focus on Self-Management skills learning about mindfulness practices and stress management. Stress can affect health, behavior, thoughts, and feelings. Recognizing and developing strategies for managing stress in healthy ways can lead to life-long physical and psychological well-being. This month, students will engage in activities to help them effectively regulate their emotions, control impulses, and manage stress. These activities help build emotional awareness, reflection, and calming skills.Contact Us
