East Welcomes Matt Vandermark
A Closer Look at the New Principal of East
Parent and Guardians of East,
Greetings! My name is Matt Vandermark and beginning on January 29th I will begin serving as the new Principal of Middle School East. After nearly four tremendous years at FTMS West I am excited to begin a new chapter with the staff, students, and families of East. Mr. Huotari and the East staff have spent a lot of time and effort making great things happen for the students at East and in the coming months I look forward to learning more about all these amazing things. There will be many moving parts during this transition and I want to ensure you I’m committed to sustaining a first class school environment.
During my 15 years working in middle schools I have learned an important fact, the middle school experience can be life-changing. Many components go into the middle school experience and I am committed to providing the resources, support, and direction needed to help ensure your student’s experience continues to be excellent. Continuing to build an exceptional school environment and refining our curriculum will help our students grow academically and personally. I look forward to seeing the student’s positive energy, grit, and success every day. These qualities, along with your support, will be essential for the continued success at FTMS East.
To help with the transition I would like to extend four opportunities to meet during the month of February. On 2/6, 2/13, 2/20 between 7:30-8:30 am I will be hosting an informal “Coffee with the Principal” in the East Library. This will be a time for you to ask questions, share ideas, and talk about the great things happening at East. Additionally, I will be available during the evening of Parent Teacher Conferences on 2/15. Of course if these dates and times do not work please feel free to call or schedule a personal meeting with me at matt.vandermark@ftcsc.k12.in.us . After February 29th please feel free to call at 317-803-8100.
I look forward to being the proud Principal of Middle School East!
Sincerely,
Matt Vandermark
