Book Review

Salt to the Sea tells the heartbreaking story of World War II refugees trying to escape from Poland as the Soviets advance through Europe. This historical fiction books highlights the sinking of the Willhelm Gustloff which is the single greatest tragedy of maritime history. As a history major, it is an event that I had never heard of but one that people should know about. The author, Ruta Sepetys, does an exceptional job of weaving multiple stories together by using alternating chapters. Her book explores the dangers and incomprehensible events that people must face during war but also highlights the indomitable spirit and selflessness of humans. I highly recommend this book.

Google Keep is a great app to help organize your daily life. Lists and notes can be color coded and shared with other people. Pictures along with notes can be added to your Keep to remind you of ideas. Reminders can be added to notes to alert you of pressing "to do" items. Labels can be added to further organize your notes. Google has also launched a Keep extension that can be added to your Chrome browser.
