  • The FHN speech and debate team opened the second half of its season with a strong showing at the Greater St. Louis Speech Association tournament at Ritenour on January 16-17. Award winners included:

    Priscilla Joel, 6th in storytelling

    Mensur Koso, 5th in extemporaneous speaking

    Som Singh, 5th in student congress

    Luke Guerdan, 4th in student congress

    A.J. Porter, 4th in radio speaking

    Sami Schmid and Lavanya Kolluru, 4th in duo interpretation

    Ryan Sparks and Noah Slaughter, 3rd in novice public forum debate

    Zoe Lawson, 3rd in radio speaking and 7th in extemporaneous speaking

    Marygrace Cole, 3rd in dramatic interpretation

    Caleb Black, 2nd in dramatic interpretation

    Miles Thies, 1st in dramatic interpretation

    The team's next competition will be January 30-31 at Jefferson City."
