Mrs. Marter's weekly update- October 13th, 2016

This week's news...

This week was dedicated to all things pumpkin! On Monday we did a pumpkin exploration where we measured, weighed, colored, and carved our pumpkin. We also came up with descriptions words for our pumpkin including bumpy, dirty, cold, and orange. On Tuesday we dug into our pumpkin scooping out the pulp and seeds. We also read The Bumpy Little Pumpkin. On Wednesday we did a pumpkin experiment where our pumpkin erupted (baking soda and vinegar) and also predicted if our pumpkin would sink or float. We wrapped up our week Thursday with our field trip at Hidden Creek Farms.

A look ahead...

Next week our focus is on fire safety. We will learn about the importance on knowing our address, what to do in an emergency, and sort hot and cold items. We will have a special visit from the BST&G Fire department. Our letter next week is "C."

It's hard to believe next week wraps up our first quarter of school. I am looking forward to meeting with each of you during parent/teacher conferences.

Conference times will be coming home next week in your child's backpack. Please let me know if you have a conflict with your scheduled time. Conferences are 20 minutes and are held in the preschool classroom.
