The Weekly Hoot
December 18, 2017 - January 7, 2018
Greetings All -
JUST KEEP SWIMMING!!!!! And spraying Lysol! And wiping down with clorox wipes! That's what I feel like we are all doing at the moment! We will make it through the next three and a half days with no problem. I know we will. I know it is crazy, but once again, remember to sit back and enjoy these last days before the vacation. Do some fun things with your kiddos. It will make the days pass faster for sure. :)
Next Monday night and Tuesday afternoon we will be purchasing pizzas for the teachers and instructional assistants who are staying for the Christmas program that night. I am asking that homeroom teachers be here for sure the night that their class performs. The other night is optional. :) I will send out a signup sheet for the pizza as soon as I am finished writing the Hoot. Yours is free and if you want some for your personal kiddos it is $1 per slice.
Lunch Schedule for Monday, December 18th will be a little different due to play practice that afternoon. Here is the schedule:
PK - 11:05
3rd grade - 11:15
5th grade - 11:25
2nd grade - 11:40
4th grade - 11:50
Kindergarten - 11:55
1st grade - 12:15
Be sure and look at the schedules I sent out for specials on Monday and Tuesday. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Since this is my last Hoot before Christmas, I would like to wish each and every one of you a joyous Christmas season. You all have added to my life immeasurably this year and I am blessed to call you my coworkers, but more importantly, my friends. Enjoy your time off and make memories with the ones you love. I know everyone is crazy busy, worried about sick kiddos, etc... BUT, please remember that these days will pass and we can't let this Christmas pass by without any Christmas spirit. I wanted to make sure you found yours, so do this...First, read the link embedded here below. Then read the rest of the Hoot. :)

DEAR EDITOR: I am a tired teacher.
Some of my friends say Christmas break will never get here.
Mrs. Pavlock says, "If you read it in The Hoot, then it is so."
Please tell me the truth. "Will Christmas Break ever get here?"
Dear Tired Teachers:
Your friends are wrong. They have been affected by the skepticism of a month of illness that just won't end. They do not believe Christmas Break is coming because there is still so much to do. They believe that because they still have two Christmas programs, program rehearsals, parent gifts to make , Christmas parties to oversee, and students too excited to behave in class that Christmas Break isn't coming this year. But in this great school of ours, tired teachers, I can promise you that Christmas Break is on the horizon.
Yes, tired teachers, there is a Christmas Break. It exists just as certain as Christmas carols, sleeping in, and smiles on Christmas morning exist, and you know that these things exist for sure! Alas! How dreary the world would be without a Christmas Break! It would be as dreary as if there were no ANDERSON-SHIRO TEACHERS! There would be no warm welcoming school without them. No touching hearts and shaping young minds. No love given to students who so desperately need it. The childlike wonder of the students at this school would be extinguished without the teachers to guide them.
Not believe in Christmas break? You might as well not believe in Summer Vacation! You might mark off days on the calendar and not see an end in sight, but what does that prove? Nobody can see Christmas Break until it actually gets here, but that doesn't mean that there isn't one. The most real things in the world are things that people can't see. Ah, tired teachers, there is nothing as real as the things we look the most forward to!
No Christmas Break!? Thank God it's real and will be here in three and a half days! A thousand years from now, nay ten times ten thousand years from now, Christmas Break will continue to make glad the heart of tired teachers!
Everyone have a great weekend! Get ready for a crazy, busy, fun week!
Love to all,
Marcy
