Pine Island Parent Press

October 2017

From The Principal's Desk....

We are definitely in the swing of things here at Pine Island. The classrooms are full of activity with the students busy learning new and exciting things. Take a moment to enjoy the changes of the season with your child.

Be on the lookout for some parent activities coming out this month! Take some time to enjoy each others company!

Parent involvement in your child's education is the number one factor for your child's school success. You are encouraged to become an active member in our school community. If you can spare time to assist in your child's classroom, help with our PTO, or any other support, we would greatly appreciate it! Let's work together to make this year the best over!!

National Bully Awareness Month!

We have been talking a lot about our BULLY FREE SCHOOL here at PIne Island. Awareness is a key component of this and making sure the students understand what they need to do in any situation. Each classroom is taking and signing a pledge to be a BULLY FREE classroom and school!

Pine Island Pumpkin Patch

Students can bring in pumpkins the week of October 23. Pumpkins can be dropped off during school hours and on Thursday (26th) from 3-8pm. The pumpkins will help turn our library into a pumpkin patch. We can’t wait to see all the cool ideas! JUDGING will be on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27.

Pumpkins will then be judged according to the following categories:

*Best Smallest *Judges Choice *Scariest *Most Original *Funniest *Best Largest

You may pick up the pumpkins at the end of the day on Fri- Oct 27. Happy Carving!

Halloween Costumes

As you begin to prepare for the upcoming Halloween activities at Pine Island, please use the following guidelines for costume selection. Halloween is a festive time and we want our students to enjoy the day and evening. We ask that when you prepare your child’s costume, please do not create a costume that glorifies violence. Weapons such as guns, knives, swords, etc. will not be allowed at school. Choose a Halloween costume that can be enjoyed by all. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences

Conferences will be taking place on the following days:

Tuesday- October 17 4-7:30pm

Thursday-October 26 4:30-8pm

We will be using Sign Up Genius again for scheduling. Once that is set up, you will get more information and the link to access it.

If you need any assistance, please contact your child’s teacher or the office and we would be happy to help.
