History
6 000 years of the waves of Lake General Carrera washing up onto the sodium bicarbonate is what caused the wonderfully smooth walls of this cave. The blue colour is a reflection of the waves below it.

The Caves
- This cave network is only accessible by boat
- The hue of the walls change based on the time of year and water levels
- The colours go from grey to bright blue
- They are on the Chilean side of General Carrera Lake

- Called General Carrera Lake on the Chilean side, and Lake Buenos Aires on the Argentine side
- 1 850 km squared with 970 km squared of that on the Chilean side
- Biggest lake in Chile
- Glacial lake which drains into the Pacific Ocean
