Every Student, Every Day, Deserves to Learn, Lead, & Excel!
Message from Ms. Perkins
Wow! is the best word to describe our STEAM Night. Students and parents spent the evening traveling to different stations learning how exciting the world of science, technology, engineering, art and math can be. We appreciate Mrs. Aseltine and Mrs. Tobin for coordinating the event and all of staff for supporting our learning stations. Thank you to all of our families for making the evening a success.
On Monday, January 27, 2020 we will be honoring our students who are the Principals Award, Honor Roll, Citizenship and Perfect Attendance. The program for students in grades 1-2 will begin at 8:30 am and students in grades 3-5 will be recognized at 9:45 am. The program will be held in the gym. Invitations were sent home to students who will be participating in the event.

Weekly Family Engagement Tips:
1. These student achievement tips are parent-approved In a survey, parents of high achieving high school students were asked how to raise a child who is successful in school. Their top tips? Stay involved and emphasize the importance of education. Take time to talk with your child and respect her opinions. Give her an ethical foundation. Get her involved with the things that interest her. And let your child know how much you love her. 2. Create a one-glance family information center If weekday mornings include a scramble to find the notes, flyers and appointment information your family has left around the house, one tried-and-true solution is a family bulletin board. Hang a large bulletin board in a central location and divide it into categories: School, Soccer, Scouts, etc. Tack notes and reminders in the appropriate sections. One glance will get you on your way. 3. In tests, finishing last is a winning move Some elementary schoolers race through tests to see who can finish first. And their grades reflect their hurried, incomplete responses. Remind your child that it is important to take time to double-check his answers. He may finish the test last, but his grades will likely improve. 4. Rewarding persistence can boost motivation to practice Many skills children need to learn take time to master. But practicing times tables, spelling words or piano scales isn't always fun. One way to keep your child motivated is to reward solid efforts. Stock a jar with small treats. Then you and your child can agree on the number of diligent practice sessions needed to earn a treat. As her skills improve, adjust the number upward to maintain the challenge. 5. Play the Try a New Vegetable game To encourage your child to give a new healthy food a try, write the names of vegetables you have on hand on slips of paper. Repeat so you have two slips for each vegetable, and put the papers into a hat. Your child draws slips until he gets the same vegetable twice. That's the one you'll serve tonight. Then refill the hat with slips numbered from 1 to 10. The one he picks is how many bites of vegetable he has to eat.
