Mission Statement

Kansas Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences mission is to provide leadership and support to FCS professionals who provide education to individuals, families, and communities. Furthermore, the mission of KATFACS is to the opportunity for members to address issues at the state level that are of importance to family and Consumer Science education.

Vision Statement

The Kansas Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences will provide education, support, and professional development for FCS teachers to assist them in providing in a field of study that all levels that promotes healthy and sustainable life for individuals, families, work, and communities.

Teach FCS in Kansas

KATFACS are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic people to become middle school and high school FCS teachers.

  • High school graduates who want to earn a four-year degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education

  • Adults who have a degree and/or work experience in a FCS-related career and want to become certified and teach.


KATFACS is planning a social event in Frankfort, Kansas (45 minutes north of Manhattan) Tuesday evening during Summer Conference. There will be a chance to tour two local businesses: Elsie Grace’s Fudge Factory and Gift Shoppe, and 2nd Street Bar and Grill. You can also shop and dine while there. Gayla Randel has also opened up her home for an “Evening Under the Stars”. More details will be given at the conference. Make plans to attend the event and enjoy an evening of food, shopping, relaxing, and a great time with friends.
