King Connections
Chromebook/Supplies Distribution:WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 9, 2020
Important Information
Chromebook/Supplies Distribution:WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 9
Please read the following very carefully.
On Wednesday, September 9th, King Elementary School invites families to pick up a chromebook for each of their children who attends the school. While we recognize that some students may have personal computers at home, it is STRONGLY recommended that all students utilize an FPS chromebook to access their instructional programs.
School issued chromebooks have a few features that have been added on to make them work better in our classrooms.
They have protection against unauthorized and potentially harmful sites.
They allow teachers to use a program called Securly which allows them to control each student's chromebook during class time. This is most often used in elementary and middle schools.
The district’s technology staff can troubleshoot or replace technology that is not working.
There will also be a supply of wifi hotspots for families who don't have internet at home. Kindergarten students may swap out their current FPS chromebooks for a newer "touch" chromebook for ease of use.
Additionally, each student will also receive a "supply kit" with basic school supplies to support remote learning. They will also receive a bag with some art supplies. Third grade students will be given a recorder for Music class.
This is also a wonderful opportunity for students to greet teachers and many other staff members in person.
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Please feel free to bring King School Library books that you would like to return. We will have a collection box available.
The details of the pick up are as follows:
Parents will drive drive around to the REAR entrance (Door 18 near the playground) of King Elementary School and pull up next to the school during their designated time slot (please see below). Parents should NOT park their cars in the spaces, but instead create a single line. Staff members will greet the cars as they arrive. Please give the name of your child(ren) and grade(s) at the check-in.
We respectfully request that no one leave their vehicle as we are working to maintain social distancing to ensure the safety and well being of everyone involved. Additionally, masks/face coverings are required to be worn upon arrival and must cover your mouth and nose.
A staff member will greet you and ask for up to date contact phone numbers for the district's new system that allows for two-way communication with text messages.
Staff will bring out items and hand them to you through the car window.
Once belongings are placed in cars, cars will pull forward and leave the King parking lot.
We have a tight time schedule so please ONLY show up to King during your scheduled time. If you have multiple students per family, please show up at the OLDEST student's scheduled time OR the Evening pick-up times.
This is the only scheduled distribution day. Please make every effort to come that day. If for some reason , you are not able to come on the 9th, please email the Principal or Vice Principal at abenabda@framingham.k12.ma.us or jherring@framingham.k12.ma.us and we will do our best to schedule a time.
Thank you so much for your cooperation and support!
