Principal's Message
Now is the time that we need to begin to shift and refine our focus on instruction. The technology hurdles will continue to present themselves, but we must maintain a clear sense of purpose and intentionallity when it comes to our academic planning and delivery. In the upcoming week Mrs. Beets and myself will be visiting classrooms and providing warm feedback on basic items that are critical to effective instruction. Our observations are non-evaluative and will primarily focus on the following components:
- Is the objective clearly evident in your materials and the dialogue or activities that are taking place?
- Are students actively engaged in an activity that will move them towards mastery of a given standard?
- Is there some type of formative assessment occurring to measure the success of a given activity or interaction?
After each visit you will be provided with feedback via email on each of the areas mentioned above. If you would like feedback in an area other than the ones above please let us know in advance so we can better serve you. Also, if you would like feedback in a different format other than an email, please let us know. Feedback is critical to growth and we are here to support you, remember we are in this together.

Testing
NWEA testing will begin this upcoming week in our K-8 schools for grades 1 through 3 in READING ONLY (September 21-September 30).
We appreciate the support from families who have gotten their students online to review the parent remote testing video. In addition, a huge thank you goes out to our educators who are ensuring that students engage in the practice tests activities prior to the administration of the test to allow students to get comfortable with the testing environment and expectations.
Technology Updates
Open House: Wednesday, September 30
Proposed schedule for the day:
8:30 - 11:00: 150 minutes of "on-stage" activities that staff normally does on a Wednesday.
11:00 - 12:40: 100 minutes to prepare for Open House. Up to 30 minutes of this time can be scheduled for a staff meeting to prepare for Open House and other relevant matters.
6:00 - 8:00: Open House
It is important to note that we will need to prepare differently this year since it is a virtual Open House such as creating links to classes, preparing videos and slides, etc.
We have the option to exchange the "on-stage" time and the 100 minutes, making 8:30-10:10 the 100 minutes, and 10:10-12:40 the "on-stage" time.
