Model United Nations
Twenty-one Chandler High School students and five adults traveled to Boston, Massachusetts to experience five days of historical site seeing around Boston’s city center. They concluded their trip by participating in three intense days of meetings at the Model United Nations conference. Students adopted roles as leaders from either Sri Lanka or Nepal and worked to solve world-wide problems, including topics dealing with humanitarian acts, military influence and mass telecommunication. Our students worked with students and leaders from Harvard University to broaden their understanding of the process used in making these marked decisions. It was an incredible experience and one that made memories that will last a lifetime. A big thank you to all who helped to support these students go on this amazing adventure!
The CHS Treblemakers and Men’s Choir, under the direction of Ms. Lori Lyford, were invited to participate in the International Youth Barbershop Chorus Festival in Reno, Nevada. As always, the groups did a phenomenal job.
Come check out their Pops Concert tonight, Monday, February 8th, at 7:00pm in the CCA. You don’t want to miss it!
german honor society
Chandler High School's German Honors Society, along with Perry High School's German Club, recently took a day-trip to Haus Murphy, a popular German restaurant in Glendale. Students sang songs, danced to German polka music and enjoyed a traditional German lunch and dessert. Menu items included Jägerschnitzel, Hühnerschnitzel, Bratwurst, or Spätzle. Level One German students recently conducted research on German table etiquette and gave the new rules a try. It was a success, and to that we say "Prost!"
CHS Student Council traveled to Flagstaff, AZ to attend the 2016 Arizona Association of Student Councils State Convention. Over 160 high schools were in attendance as students were challenged to continue to impact their schools through leadership. CHS Stuco brought home 3 awards: Gold Level for Charity Contribution, Service Project and Outstanding Council of Distinction. Gold is the highest level that a council can receive for each award.
The bookstore has new CHS tumblers available. The 32 oz tumbler can be used for hot or cold liquids, and it is dishwasher safe. Get yours for only $15.
