40 Book Teacher Challenge
“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” – Stephen King
Why the 40 Book Teacher Challenge?
There is a large volume of research to support students reading independently and doing better in school, on tests, and becoming life-long readers. Check out this study if you don't believe me. We, as teachers, are uniquely suited to be models for independent reading for our students. Thus, the 40 Book Teacher Challenge.
What Books Can I Read?
Your books for the 40 Book Challenge do not have to come from any particular genre, grade level, author, etc. You just have to read. It would be awesome for you to mix in some books your students are reading (maybe even get a recommendation) then either fill out the Google form or print your own chart to track.
Tracking: When you have finished a book simply fill out the Google form provided below. If you would rather keep a paper copy of your reading, there is a chart (PDF) that you can print and keep track that way. If you use a reading log with your students, you are welcome to use that also.
Final Stuff
All staff members (teachers, instructional assistants, office staff, custodians, cafeteria staff, did we miss anyone?) who successfully complete the 40 Book Challenge will be entered into a raffle for a TBD prize.
