October (week 2) at BBIS

October 7, 2019

Mrs. Sarah Kassuba, Counselor

I was born and raised in Northern Michigan and that is where I started my career in education. After earning my BA in elementary education with a special education certification, I accepted my first teaching position as a special education teacher teaching grades K-6. I was there for a year and then my husband’s career brought us to Texas. I took a high school 11th grade ELA special education teaching position in Granbury, where I was also a varsity assistant softball coach and freshman basketball coach.

At this time I went back to school to earn my Masters degree. Upon graduating with my masters in school counseling I accepted a special education counseling position at Northwest ISD. After one year in this position, I was asked to open a new elementary school as the school counselor. Two years later my husband’s career took us to Pennsylvania where I chose to stay at home with our 3 children.

After staying home for a few years I truly missed working alongside amazing educators and making a difference in the lives of hundreds of students each year. It just worked out that my husband and I made the decision to move cross country once again and I was able to join BB6 as the school counselor just in time to start preparing to open BBIS. I am so happy to be back in Texas and working with you and your children to help them have a successful year.
