Quote of the week
"I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about other than homework"-Lily Tomlin
From Mr. Wingfield
Last week I attended a PTO meeting and based on all of the events coming up I realized that very few people are volunteering to do a great many things. Monday night at our volleyball game we had a lot of support for our girls, but we did not have a concession stand open due to lack of volunteers. As a parent of 5 kids I fully understand how busy life can get! If you have ever considered volunteering, our PTO and/ or other organizations could use some help. All proceeds from any volunteer opportunities go directly back to our students and programs. If you are interested in helping in any capacity, please call our office at 936-667-2147 and we can put you in touch with the right people.
I also want to reiterate information sent by Mr. Ruffin, our superintendent, in regards to destruction of property and vandalism on our campus and other campuses. We tell our students all the time how lucky they are to have such great facilities in a smaller rural district. I encourage them all the time to make sure they take care of everything that the school provides them so that it will be here for others that come after them. We are asking our students to let us know if they are aware of or witness anyone writing or carving into walls or any other actions that would destroy property. This community has invested a lot in student education through local bonds and donations in order to provide the best possible educational environment for our kids. Please support us in relaying the same message to your students so that we can maintain the great quality of facilities and resources that we have at NISD. If you or your student have any information to share please call our office at 936-667-2147 or submit an anonymous tip to our STOPit app online, https://appweb.stopitsolutions.com/
We have also had an increase in students that are unsupervised in the school building without a reason after hours. As a small community we pride ourselves on providing our facilities as a place to meet, provide shelter, and to practice for community sports and activities. Recently, though, we have had students in areas of our campuses that are restricted and unmonitored. This creates a safety and security concern for us and for our students. If students are staying after school for tutoring or UIL practices, they must be picked up as soon as those activities are completed. If students are on campus to watch any event, they must stay where that event is taking place and must be accompanied by a parent or other adult who is responsible for monitoring the student(s) while they are at these events. Any students found in areas of the school they are not supposed to be will be asked to leave and may be suspended from watching future after school activities. Thanks for your support!
Please look at every section below in order to get updates on events and/or any other pertinent information regarding Normangee MS and NISD.
In an effort to continually keep our students and campus safe, all parents will need to physically enter the building in order to check out your child for any reason. We will pull your child out of class when you arrive and have gone through the check-out procedures. Thanks for your cooperation.
If there is any other information you would like to receive through the MS Newsletter, please feel free to email me at jwingfield@normangeeisd.org
As always, if I can help in any way please let me know.

From our Bus Barn
We are still trying to determine our ridership for our buses. Once we establish our consistent riders we will be able to have a better idea of our pickup and stop times.
A reminder to students that they must get out to the bus loop as soon as the school day ends. They need to be on the bus and make sure they are modeling positive behavior. We have elementary school kids on the buses and they are looking for great role models that are practicing and following our campus and district expectations.
