From Kati
Have a restful and relaxing Winter Break. You deserve it!
Do you know about AISD Employee Assistant Program? I encourage you to visit the AISD website at http://www.austinisd.org/eap for lots of great information. For example, employees AND their families can:
- Get cab fair reimbursed (up to 50 miles one way) for a "Safe Ride Home."
- Get legal and financial counseling (3 - 30 minute free visits)
- Access short term counseling for any issue impacting you personally - 6 visits per issue
Updates and Reminders
- Kick off a new year of health and wellness with two fun, FREE XFit2You LaBlast® classes after school, on January 6 and January 13 at 3:15 in the gym.
LaBlast® is an exciting new dance fitness program created by World Dance Champion, coach, choreographer, Dancing with the Stars fan favorite and fitness expert, Louis van Amstel. Less jarring on your knees and joints then Zumba, but just as fun and great exercise! Check out Erikka, one of the first instructors in the Austin area. - The Texas Education Agency has opened the window for teachers to complete the Teacher School Technology and Readiness (STaR) Chart. This is a mandatory NCLB federal requirement. Statewide reports from the Texas Teacher STaR Chart are used to report on progress toward fulfilling the requirements in No Child Left Behind, Title II, Part D that all teachers should be technology literate and integrate technology across the curriculum. The data is also shared with state and federal policymakers, then used to complete reports on various technology grant programs such as ERate. Since 2007, Austin ISD has received $20.7M in ERate funding for the implementation and maintenance of Internet services, telephone services, and network hardware to provide our classrooms with the latest technology services.
All teachers must complete the STaR chart by going to https://www.txstarchart.org/. The online STaR chart takes 10-15 minutes per individual to complete. Please complete the Teacher STaR chart prior to March 13, 2015.
