Chief Charlo Elementary School News
Principal's Notes
Dear Wolfpack Families,
We are off to a great start returning from winter break. Students and teachers are hard at work, and doing some wonderful things in the classroom.
As a friendly reminder, we recognize the mornings can sometimes be hectic, but please do whatever you can to ensure that your students arrive to school on time. A student who arrives 5-10 minutes late misses the initial directions and discussion of the day’s events. This puts your child behind before they have even started. The last bell rings at 8:30 a.m. Additionally, please try to call in your child if he/she is sick. We greatly appreciate your help with this matter!
What is new in STEAM!
Chief Charlo continues to implement a STEAM focus across the curriculum. Here are some STEAM activities happening across the grade levels in January and February:
· January SPARK! lessons with local art residents across the city
· Project Lead the Way Science modules
· Classroom STEAM challenges
· National Arts Integration training for staff on Poetry and Visual Arts
Save the Date:
· STEAM NIGHT - April 8th
o This will be our second annual Family “STEAM” night event to showcase all things STEAM in our classroom

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
March 11th and 12th –Teachers will be sending home sign up information later this month.
Also, please remember when dropping off or picking up students to park in the parking lot or on a designated side street area. We want to continue to avoid cars double-parking or holding up traffic moving through the parking lot. Thank you for your continued support in making our parking lot as safe as possible.
For the month of February, we are celebrating “20 days of Kindness”. Each day, we display “acts of kindness” on boards across the building. Please be sure to ask your child the “Act of the day”. This is a great way to continue to spread respect, appreciation and support in our community.
Please be sure to sign in at the front desk when visiting classrooms or signing out your children. With the exception of the front door, we lock all other doors in our school at all times. This allows us to know who is in the building and that your children are safe. Being with your child(ren) every day is a privilege, and keeping them safe is our top priority.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Sock Hop on February 21st.

Families in Transition (FIT) Program
The Families in Transition (FIT) Program is here to assist Chief Charlo students and families experiencing homelessness (McKinney-Vento Act) and/or economic hardship. FIT works as a bridge between those families, our school and district staff to empower students to stay in and remain successful in school as lifelong learners. FIT also provides families access to community resources and services.
FIT is here to support your family, because we care about all of our Wolves - BIG and small!!
