October 20th - PTO Meeting @ 7:45 AM

October 31st - Halloween (see below for more details)

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE ON WEDNESDAYS!

We go to the LIBRARY on WEDNESDAYS. Please help your child remember to return his/her library book every WEDNESDAY.

Are you using Raz-Kids at home?

Raz-Kids is an amazing English Language Arts resource. All of the students are familiar with Raz-Kids because we use it on a daily basis during Reading Groups and Learning Centers. Students can read and listen to books online. Login credentials were sent home in early September. If you are unable to access your child's account, please let me know.

Our class Raz-Kids account can be accessed here!

Snack

We eat snack everyday at 9:00 AM. Please send a snack to school with your child EVERYDAY. Please pack your child's snack separate from their lunch. This will make the morning routine much easier for your child when he/she does not have to search for their snack.

Popcorn Words & Red Folder

It is VERY important that your child bring his/her RED folder to school EVERYDAY along with their Popcorn Word folder. We use the RED folder to send home important information such as forms that need to be signed and returned. Also, the RED folder is how we communicate information (behavior) about your child's day. Please look over the information we send home. On Fridays, we send home student work. Please remove your child's school work over the weekend and return your child's folder to school on Monday. The students have a hard time managing a folder with LOTS of papers!

Halloween

Your child can wear their Halloween costume to school on Monday, October 31st.

At Oak Grove, Halloween is a FUN DAY! We plan lots of exciting activities for the students. However, our number one responsibility is to keep children safe and make sure that they feel safe. Therefore, if your child's costume has a weapon, please leave it at home.

We hope you will join us for some of the exciting activities.

8:30 AM - School Parade in the front parking lot

9:30 AM - Storytelling by PTC Children's Librarian

11:40 AM - Class Party (We will need at least 4 volunteers. We will also need some supplies. Please look for more information about this.)

1:30 PM - Wax Museum in the Gym

What will we learn next week?

Next week, we will learn ALL ABOUT PUMPKINS! We will also focus on the letter Ss; number 9; and the 3D shape, the cube.

On Monday, the PTC firefighters will come to visit us. We will learn about the importance of fire safety. We will their firetruck up close.

In Science, we will start practicing informational writing (writing facts about a subject such as pumpkins). Maps and globes will be the focus in Social Studies. We are learning about where we live...continent, country, state, and city.
