Help Wanted
USD 232 is looking for paraprofessional substitutes who are flexible and willing to substitute throughout the district on an as-needed basis. Stay-at-home parents make great substitute paraprofessionals! The ideal candidate is caring, compassionate and dedicated to the students' success by looking for ways to support the teacher and making a positive difference in the lives of our children. Becoming a para sub is a great way to support the district, our students and our teachers which is needed now more than ever.
To learn more about becoming a substitute paraprofessional for the district, please contact Human Resources at the USD 232 District Office. Ready to apply? Click here > Paraprofessional Substitutes for USD 232
Book Fair
Hello Prairie Ridge readers! Our Fall Book Fair is NEXT WEEK! Shop via email order October 22-28 in just a few easy steps! Orders will be delivered to your student or will be available for pick up from the school. Teacher Wish Lists will also be available! Please see the attached flyer for more detailed information and how to shop!
Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences
In years past specials teachers were available in the building for families to stop by around their conference time. Since that is not an option this year, the PRE specials teachers have their own sign-ups. You are able to book a 20 minute conference with any of our specials teachers.
Please let us know if you have any questions about this new format.
Fall/Halloween Dress-up Day
- Students may choose to wear a costume or a fun outfit. Those costumes should be designed to be entertaining, not actually scary for our littlest cougars and bigger cougars (and Mrs. Fulcher). No blood, no guts, no gore, no weapons and no violence, please. If your child will not wear a costume this year, then they may dress-up in a fun outfit or wear a funky hat.
- Students may wear their costume/outfit to school. We will not be changing into any outfits or costumes at school.
- Please save some excitement for evening trick-or-treating by leaving hair and face paint at home with extra costume parts like swords and daggers.
- Please do not send your child with a full-face mask, only regular masks covering mouth and nose.
- There will not be a parade this year.
- Classroom teachers will communicate with families about details for their own classrooms.
Peace Month
Our theme this year is I Elect to Social Distance Myself from Bullying and Drugs!
What is Peace Month? We used to celebrate Anti-bullying week the first week of October, and red ribbon week the last week of October. Now we celebrate them all together. Our building leadership team decided to make it a month long celebration instead of one week.
When is Peace Month? October 5-October 31
What about Spirit Days? The spirit days will be on the four Wednesdays throughout the month of October. This way, the kids can all see each other on Zoom if we are in hybrid, or everyone will be at school if we are all in.
What activities will we do? We will not be doing our annual parade around the building this year. However, we will have a month long calendar with a different activity for kids to do each day. This is optional, but I hope the kids will participate! Mrs. Montgomery will be sending paper copies of the calendar home next week: B day kids will take them home Tuesday and A day kids will take them home on Friday.
How will kids know about this? Mrs. Montgomery uploaded a video briefly talking about Peace Month and the calendar on Schoolwork for all the kids to see.

We are also looking for treat bag donations. These can be candy, trinkets, coupons for kids meals or ice cream, etc. We will even include your business cards!
