Emily is proficient in understanding the impact of wealth on women and their intimate relationships. Since 2004 Emily has worked with over 100 affluent women on building stronger relationships and communication in their families.
Jamie Traeger-Muney, Ph.D., Founding Principal of Wealth Legacy Group
specializes in wealth psychology and family systems. Her area of expertise is the emotional impact of wealth on inheritors, women, and couples. She supports her clients in concretizing their values, developing a vision for their future.
Debra L. Wetherby, CFA, CFP® Chief Executive Officer, Shareholder and Wealth Manager
Deb founded Wetherby Asset Management in 1990 to serve clients with objectivity, integrity and thoughtfulness. Passionate about both investing and serving clients, she is integrally involved in the firm's investment process as well as working on investment and planning issues for some of the firm's more complex clients. Previously, Deb worked at Morgan Stanley in Private Client Services and in the Audit and Management Consulting departments at Price Waterhouse.
Deb holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia. She is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive), a Chartered Financial Analyst and a CFP®. She has been honored over the years in numerous ways including Top 50 Women in Wealth Management, Top 50 Fee-Only RIAs, and Top 50 Wealth Management RIAs. Deb loves to teach and has spoken and taught on topics ranging from graduate level finance courses to the collective power of women helping women.
Deb is committed to making a difference in the world and is active in several community organizations, including current or prior service on the Marin Community Foundation, the Advisory Board for the Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership at the Haas School at UC Berkeley, BRAC USA, the National Endowment for Financial Education, and the UC San Francisco Foundation. In addition to spending time with her three children and three grandchildren, Deb enjoys hiking, skiing, reading, and ceramics.
EMILY SCOTT POTTRUCK, Philanthropist
Emily Scott Pottruck is a former Wall Street Executive who now devotes her energies to philanthropy and marketing consulting. She spent 12 years as a trader and a marketing/sales professional with The American Stock Exchange, Merrill Lynch, Shearson Lehman, and Charles Schwab. She led ESP & Associates, a marketing consulting organization, for 4 years.
Emily is the author and publisher of Tails of Devotion, A Look at the Bond Between People and Their Pets (www.tailsofdevotion.com). The book has raised over $250,000 for more than 70 animal welfare non-profit organizations in 22 states.
Ms. Scott Pottruck serves on the boards of Simmons College, V-Day, Fostering Media Connections, and Park City Community Foundation. At Simmons, she has been chair of 3 committees (Trusteeship/Governance, Advancement, Student Affairs) and has served on the Executive Committee for 11 years. She is a founding board director of the Park City Community Foundation and serves as Vice Chair and Chair of the Grants Committee. She is also a founding board director and Chair of Fostering Media Connections. Ms. Scott Pottruck has served on the boards of KQED, the UCSF Medical Foundation, the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, SF AIDS Foundation, the Planned Parenthood Board of Sponsors and Lake Merced Women’s Golfers Board.
She frequently employs her marketing skills as a fundraiser and speaker for these and various other causes.
She was the President of The Pottruck Family Foundation until its recent closing. The Pottruck Family Foundation was established in 1995 to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and youth, and to support volunteer-driven organizations, with a primary focus in San Francisco. This purpose had evolved to focus specifically on foster youths, and special projects that were initiated by the Foundation.
She started her career in the Retail Industry after receiving her BA from Simmons College. She also earned an MBA from Cornell University. She currently resides in San Francisco with her husband, David, and has two adult step-children and 4 grandchildren. Ms. Scott Pottruck is an avid lover of dogs, especially her own. Lastly, she is an obsessed golfer, photographer, and crossword puzzle/sudoku/cryptogram solver.
