Principal's Update #7- September 15, 2016

Dear Parents & Community Members

We are in the midst of "Homecoming Week" and our looking forward to all of the festivities that are planned. Although Homecoming is a bit earlier than usual this year, the students and staff have taken up the challenge of the early start and done a phenomenal job in preparing for this year's event.

Adding to the mix of all of the festivities will be a "live" broadcast from Eastwood HS on Friday, September 16th courtesy of the Friday Night Frenzy portion of NBC 24 News - morning edition. A reporter from the morning show will be on campus during the following times - 5:45, 6:20, 6:45, and 11:30 to interview and showcase some of our amazing students and staff. So while your sipping your morning coffee, please tune in to see what's happening at Eastwood HS so early in the morning.

Thanks for your continued interest in all of our offerings!

Go Eagles!!!

Eastwood HS Students Turn into TV Stars

Eastwood HS has been selected by NBC 24 News for their weekly installment of "Friday Frenzy" with several morning "live" interviews occurring on the morning of September 16th. Highlighting the morning show will be several student-based groups from our building taking turns to showcase their amazing talents with 3-4 minutes of "live" time on television.

Needless to say, the students are very excited about becoming "TV Stars" for a short time. Here's the breakdown:

  • 5:45 AM - we will feature our HS weight room and the dedication of many of our students who routinely use this facility so early in the morning
  • 6:20 AM - we will feature the talents of the Eastwood HS Marching Band
  • 6:45 AM - we will showcase our FFA, Art Club, and International Club programs while highlighting their activities
  • 11:30 AM - we will let all of our Fall Sport Student-Athletes show their "Eagle Pride" on TV

Our sincerest appreciation goes out to the students and staff who make EHS such a fantastic place. We hope you'll take some time in the morning hours to watch our students turn into "stars" on Channel 24 News.

Digital Citizenship Meeting

On September 12th, a representative from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), presented assemblies to students (grades 6-12) on the topic of Digital Citizenship. A Parent presentation was also provided in the evening.

We appreciate all of the parents who were in attendance and the warm "Eagle Welcome" that was given by everyone in our school community. The world of technology is changing quickly, and with the help of organizations such as ICAC, we are able to help provide information on how to be safe with all of the technology platforms available.
