Teacher of the Month
Teachers, please announce this to your students, and post the link in your classroom.
THREE DAYS LEFT TO VOTE FOR THE NOVEMBER TEACHER OF THE MONTH!
What do the students think? (Highlights from this week's Teacher of the Month responses)
- Ms. Dransoff is an all around bright, fun loving teacher. You can't go into her class without interest. She tests us and makes sure we know we have no limits in life. She works hard to make our life better and make us become better musicians. She is a great person to vent to and ask for help especially when you want results. She always stands up for whats right and never lets someone go unheard. She doesn't deal with drama in her classes and we're all much happier because of it. Choir would not be half as exciting and enjoyable without Ms. D. We are all really thankful to have her not only as our director but as a mentor and adviser.
- No matter what Mrs.Simmons is always there to help you out. No matter how many times you explain to her you don't understand math, she'll be there to help you. Math rocksssss with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Mrs. Wentworth strongly believes in me and motivates me to see my potential.
- Mr. Smith, because he's always willing to help us and wont give up. And he's always there to help when i don't understand.
- She loves her job and cares about helping her students succeed. Plus she's an awesome math genius.(Stephanie Williams)
- Mrs.Gaddy is literally the nicest & sweetest teacher at Richlands High School. She'll do her best to help you out.She even lets you warm up your food in her classroom...One time my fried chicken was cold and she let me warm it up sooo.....Just for that she should be Teacher of the month.!!!!
SHOUT OUTS!!!
Shout outs to:
- Jilian Casey and Al Jones for receiving a $5,000.00 grant to get their barn project going!
- Gena Misciagno for all of the hard work getting Federal Cards sorted, packaged, and turned in to OCS.

- To Mr. Marsh, who has been offering math tutoring after school on his personal time.
- To Mrs. Kelsey Metts, Mrs. Amanda Royal, and Mrs. Melissa Salas on a job well done at the NCHSAA State Cheerleading competition. Our JV cheerleaders have received a bid to nationals!

Peachjar is coming!
Like us, you may be tired of dealing with all the printed materials your child carries home from school.
In December we will be moving away from printed flyers to a new "electronic backpack" system. We have begun working with a company named Peachjar on this new system. Each school will have its own online backpack where school information, calendars, activity information from enrichment providers, and school letters will be posted.
Students’ backpacks will be lighter and family members will learn about school and community events and activities directly via email. This "green" initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. No more worrying what was lost between school and home either.
Provided we have parent/guardian email addresses, no action is required. We encourage all parents to go into their parent portal and post their email address if they have not done so already. Once we are set to launch Peachjar we will send parents a welcome email that includes a username and password. This is provided to give parents the opportunity to manage their account and flyer delivery preferences. It is not necessary to login to receive or view school-approved eflyers.
Emails are not the only way to tap into flyers and other materials, it will also be possible to click on the Peachjar button on a school's website to find and view flyers.
More specific notifications will be sent as we get closer to launch.
DATA SPOTLIGHT
WOW!!! THIS IS AMAZING!
PARENT / STUDENT Powerschool Logins - November
This is a GREAT progress monitoring tool for our families, but it depends on grades being posted in a timely manner. Please ensure that grades are going in regularly. We have received some concerns weekly from parents who are inquiring as to why their student's grades are not updated, or make-up work hasn't shown.
Onslow County Schools Policy:
For grades 3-12, recording of grades for graded assignments should follow the proposed window:
- Daily homework, classwork and short quizzes (less than 20 questions for example) should be posted in the Powerschool gradebook within 5 school days.
- Tests and longer quizzes should be posted in the PowerSchool gradebook within 7 school days.
- Projects and tests or assignments including essay/ research responses should be posted in the PowerSchool gradebook within 10 school days.
