4th Quarter Grading
If your child has not yet met the expectations (below) to pass a class, this week, Monday, June 15 through Monday, June 23 is a great opportunity to make up work that has not yet been completed. I am encouraging all students to use this time to access the Canvas modules (Social Studies, Science, Health, Music, Art, Media, Band, Strings, Chorus and Physical Education), the LexiaCore5 minutes and the Dreambox minutes that are not yet completed according to expectations. Please contact your child's teacher with questions or concerns regarding assignments.
LexiaCore 5 - Minimum of 263 minutes to pass
Dreambox - Minimum of 263 minutes to pass
Social Studies and Science - minimum of 3 lessons completed to pass
Health, PE, Music, Art, Media - minimum of 2 lessons completed to pass
If the goal is not met before June 23rd, an incomplete grade will be given on the report card. Any incomplete grade can be turned into a passing one by completing the packet of work that will be sent to your home at the end of June. Again, packets will be sent to those students who receive incomplete marks on their report cards.
Attendance: June 15 – June 18
For the week of June 15-18, attendance will only be tracked during check-ins. Students must check in at least once to have full attendance.
End of Year Activities: June 19, 22, 23
Please look at each Canvas email carefully for end of the year activities for your child’s class. Each grade level team has something special planned on either June 19, 22, and 23rd.
5th Grade Virtual Promotion Ceremony: June 18th
Coming up this week is the 5th grade Virtual Promotion Ceremony on Thursday, June 18th. The celebration is pre-recorded and will be posted in Canvas so families can celebrate and enjoy. Each class will also have a Virtual Celebration through Google Meet.

Recommended lists for all grade levels are available both in schools and online. All families are also invited to participate in the summer reading challenge to help make a difference In this challenging time for so many in our community. 6th Grade and New Student Virtual Orientation
It’s the time of year when we provide an opportunity for our rising 6th graders to get to know Glenwood Middle School! Since we cannot have a physical orientation day, we put together a virtual orientation. Our 6th grade team has created a video to welcome the incoming 6th graders to GMS. The video provides a tour of the school, an introduction to staff, general knowledge of the school day and even support with opening up a locker. Here is the orientation video:
