We Will!!!!
I stumbled across this video when looking for more information regarding the Rigor, Relevance, Relationship framework that we have been talking about. Central Dauphin School District in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, (11,000 students and 900 staff) embarked on a similar journey in the spring of 2013. In looking at their own student data CDSD found areas...."needing improvement included the methods of delivering instruction in the classrooms and the current state of the district curriculum. These shortcomings were not found to be the fault of the classroom teachers, but rather a system-wide effort to focus on test scores at the expense of a rigorous and relevant educational experience in every classroom." A report I found on their district website detailed processes nearly identical to what JCPS has just begun.
They partnered with Scholastic Achievement Partners in part of which included William Daggett and ICLE. I believe this video may have been their back to school video for the 2015-2016 school year. We are on a journey....together....this is not a one year expedition..... I wanted you to know others have and are successfully traveling the same path we are. "What will have the greatest impact on our students....WE WILL!"
Thank you for all that you do!
