Health, Safety, and Travel Guidelines
Please review correct mask-wearing with your child and ensure that they have a mask that fits appropriately. Their nose and mouth should be covered continuously while inside the building (outside of lunch). Masks are not required outdoors, but are encouraged for the non-vaccinated..
International Travel:
- Per the CDC and IDPH, any unvaccinated individual returning from international travel is required to:
- Quarantine for 7 days and get a PCR test on days 5-7, OR
- Quarantine for 10 days if not getting tested.
- Fully vaccinated individuals do not have to quarantine unless they become symptomatic.
- There is currently no restriction when returning from domestic travel
Surveillance Testing
The District is offering optional weekly surveillance testing to students or staff who are interested. The test is a nasal swab PCR test provided by Loop Medical. There is no cost to families, staff, or the District for this test.
- Student Signup: If you would like to sign up your student for weekly COVID-19 surveillance testing, you can do so by logging in to Skyward, selecting the Forms tab, and checking the permissions box. A new signup is required for this year, even if you signed up last year (just click to edit the form within Skyward to update it).
We are pleased to share that as a result of our work with Loop Medical to simplify the testing process, you will no longer need to register your tests on a weekly basis and do not need to create/log into your Loop Medical account when you submit your test.
- Starting with the next test administration, (which will be Tuesday, Oct. 12, because of the Monday holiday) you only need to complete the nasal swab testing process and turn in your pre-labeled test — no account login, questionnaire, or account registration will be required.
Only “Positive” Results Will Receive Notification
The District COVID team will only notify individuals whose test results come back as “positive.” Those who submitted their tests and received a “negative” result will not receive communication.

BE TRUE OCTOBER FOCUS - UNITY!
October is National Bully Prevention Month
We have many activities planned to continue to promote unity through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion at Monroe School. Each morning during announcements, students will learn about how to identify various signs of bullying (both in-person AND online). In line with our "BE TRUE" theme, we continue to promote learning opportunities for our students to help them develop the tools to be a positive catalyst for change and help put a stop to bullying for good. Working together, we will promote unity and a safe and caring environment for all!
We encourage our students to show their support for putting an END TO BULLYING by participating in our October spirit week activities!

Parents and school personnel are the most powerful defense against bullying. On-going conversations with trusted adults about how to interact with peers, how to respond to potential negative interactions and how to report situations where they might need help are crucial. Working together, we can provide a safe and caring learning environment for all of our children.
Community Consolidated School District 181 does not tolerate bullying and takes all reports of bullying seriously. Consistent with School District Board policies, bullying, intimidation, and harassment diminish a student’s ability to learn and a school’s ability to educate. Preventing students from engaging in these disruptive behaviors and providing all students equal access to a safe, non-hostile learning environment are important District goals. Bullying of any type should be reported immediately. Please visit our District website to learn more and report any instances of bullying. https://www.d181.org/parents/report-bullying
