June 5, 2020
A note from the Principal...
Hello DeKeyser families,
This coming week, parents are scheduled to pick up student materials and drop off materials that belong back at school. Please see your child's teacher's BLOOMZ account for a list of materials students may have at home that belong to the school.
Below is our plan for parent pickup of student belongings and returning of materials. Please see the detailed plan below.... Here is an overview:
- Pickup times are based on your student’s Last Name
- Teachers have packed up student materials and put them in bags labeled with student names.
- Cars will drive through the line, student names will be walkie talkied to "runners" who will place student bags in the back of the cars.
- There will be drop off stations in the parking lot by grade level for the parent to drop grade level materials that need to be returned to school into bins.
- Teachers have been compiling a list of items that may have been taken home that need to be returned to school for a reference.
Please know that we are following social distancing guidelines according to the Governor’s orders.
Similar to our food distributions, we ask that you remain in your cars as we place your child’s belongings in the back of your car.
· Your continued patience and understanding is appreciated! We will do our best to keep the line moving.
· If, upon returning home, you find someone else’s belongings mixed in with your child’s, please call the school.
If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to the office at 586-797-4400.
With appreciation,
Mary Beth Merlo

Online Summer Camp Opportunity for Students in Grades 3 - 8
During Online Summer Camp, Minecraft Edition, students will be transported to the virtual island of Pangea where they will be asked to use their creativity and ingenuity to complete educational challenges in the world of Minecraft: Education Edition. See attached flyer for more information.
With four weeks of self-directed challenges, your child will learn at their own pace and engage their literacy, math and coding skills. These challenges are designed to be repeatable, so students can start over upon completion and tackle them in a new way. The program will cost $49.95 per student. The district will receive $20 from each qualifying enrollment by a student under this agreement. Students will enroll and pay for the programs on the Michigan Virtual website. At the point of purchase, they (or their parents) will be asked to identify their district. Upon the close of the enrollment period, which will likely be in late July, Michigan Virtual will provide the district with a list of all qualifying enrollments and a payment in the amount of $20 per enrollment.
