News on SEL Summer Plan

Greetings!

As we approach Summer Break, I want to reflect a bit on our previous newsletter and remind each of you of the importance of implementing Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) when engaging with your scholars. Each student should have received a SEL Summer Plan packet that included choice boards for each of the summer months as well as a local and national resource list. This packet will also be available for you and your family on the school webpage. The activities on the choice boards give opportunity for individual and family social and emotional engagement. As our scholars become more socially and emotionally aware, they will be more equipped to set and achieve personal and academics goals, become emotionally aware and effectively communicate with others. Together as a team we will expose our scholars to SEL strategies and skills that will help pave the way for a successful 2020-2021 academic school year. SEL competencies include skills that scholars will utilize throughout their lives as they become successful citizens. Please take a moment to visit the Good Reads section of this newsletter to find informative articles and websites on SEL. Have a safe and awesome summer!
