from Sabrina McClure

I'd say welcome to the new school year, but since we're over a month in, that doesn't sound right. I'm working on ways to inform you and students without my infamous emails.

Citing Sources: An Everyday Kinda Thing

Just a reminder that when you ask for students to look for evidence or examples, whether in books or on the internet, that is research and should be cited. Help them practice and model it in class. Did you "borrow" something to use with students? Point out that by placing the information (somewhere on the document) about where you obtained it, you are following copyright procedures, and help them understand why this is important.

A great resource for help students cite different types of sources and fro creating a bibliography is http://www.citethisforme.com/. Also, be sure to go over the difference in a Work Cited list and a Bibliography if you are having students create one. In Works Cited you only list items you have actually cited. In a Bibliography you list all of the material you have consulted in preparing your essay whether or not you have actually cited the work.

Limitless Libraries

Have you accessed your Limitless Libraries account yet? See me or refer to the email I sent at the beginning of the year. The Nashville Public Library has a lot of great resources for you and your students. To help your students access their accounts they just need their Student ID # and birth date and they must have turned in the Release of Consent form with Limitless Libraries marked yes. I have additional forms in English and other languages in the LMC.
