Curriculum Update
Projects and due dates....
Reading- Grocery bag book report- If your child is unable to get a paper bag, a cereal box will work just fine. The due date is May 16th.
Writing- The autobiography project is due May 17th.
Social Studies- The budget project is due May 11th.
Math - We will review converting measurements, line plots and coordinate grids. The test over this will be on Wednesday.
Science - The students will be creating a game to review two science units that we learned about this year.
Word Study- The spelling DG will be given May 12th. The list for next week:

Northbrook Field Trip and "Not Returning" Form
A permission slip for a free field trip to Northbrook Middle School was sent home in last week's Friday Folder. Please sign and return so that your child may be introduced to his/her new school!
If your child will not be attending Northbrook, please return the blue form so that your child's permanent record will not be sent to NMS.

Only $35 provides memories for years to come. Priceless! After April 30th, we will accept cash only for yearbook purchases. Currently you can place your order on My Payment Plus if your student or family has an account.

From the Cafeteria....
May 5th is the last day that charging will be allowed on meal accounts. We can take payments in cash or check here at the school, or on line at mypaymentsplus.com.
Payments can be made at anytime up until the last day of school. Any child with out sufficient funds after May 5th will be given a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a milk until all charges are paid in full. (An alternative meal will be offered to those with a peanut allergy.) Please be sure to keep all accounts current through the end of the school year. Charge letters will be sent home daily during the month of May.

Northbrook Summer Orientation
NORTHBROOK MIDDLE SCHOOL
SIXTH GRADE SUMMER ORIENTATION
Join us this summer to learn how to have a successful year as a sixth grader. Summer Orientation sessions include: “THE MIDDLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE,” “CAMPUS SCAVENGER HUNT,” “STUDY & SOCIAL SKILLS,” “PREVIEWING MIDDLE SCHOOL CONTENT,” “S.T.E.M. ACTIVITIES” and more!
Choose one of two Summer Orientation sessions from 9:00am to 2:00pm: Monday, July 17 or Monday, July 24
The cost for a session is $40.00 and includes a NMS t-shirt. Lunch is not included and students will need to bring a sack lunch. Registration for orientation is now open in MyPaymentsPlus. Registration closes on May 26, 2017.
