A Note From Mr. Christ
Dear Paddock Families,
Happy weekend everyone. Thank you to all of the room parents and parent volunteers that helped make our classroom Valentine's Day parties a ton of fun. It was great to see the students having fun and enjoying some time with their peers.
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st. Monday is President's Day and Tuesday is a Teacher Plan Day. Please do not send students to school on either of these days.
Have a great week!
Jason Christ
Principal
Book Vending Machine
We are very excited to have this addition to Paddock! Thank you to the PTA for organizing the purchasing and stocking of the vending machine and to all of the families and community members that donated to our Fun Run. Together, we continue to make Paddock School an amazing place for our students!
IAR Exam
Each year, all Illinois public schools are required to administer a test that measures the academic achievement of students in grades 3-8. The IAR measures student achievement in English/Language Arts and Math and is designed to help parents and schools track each student’s progress toward becoming college and career ready. The IAR exam is given on student Chromebooks. The District 15 website provides more information about the IAR to include parent resources, sample tests, and links. Information about IAR can be found here: https://www.ccsd15.net/Page/453.
At Paddock, students 3rd-6th grade students will take the IAR, which consists of 2 reading tests and 3 math tests, between March 6th and March 10th. Please reach out to your classroom teacher or Mrs. O'Neill with any questions.

5Essentials Parent Survey
Throughout District 15, parents, students (4th-8th grade during school hours) and teachers are being asked to complete the Illinois 5Essentials Survey to gather data related to five indicators that can be targeted to improve important student outcomes, including attendance and state test score gains. The 5Essentials Survey asks questions about:
- Effective Leaders
- Collaborative Teachers
- Involved Families
- Supportive Environments
- Ambitious Instruction
Parent input is an extremely valuable part of this survey and all responses are completely anonymous. In order for schools to receive the results of the parent feedback, at least 20% of parents must complete the survey. The survey takes about 10-15 minutes. Please consider visiting the the 5Essentials Survey website and selecting the parent survey to begin. Thank you for your valuable feedback.
