New England Colonies
Introduction
I am going to be telling you all about the New England colonies. I will be giving you as much information as possible. If I don't give you enough information you can still get more information online. Some of the things I will be telling you about are "the geography", "Why the colony of RI was settled" and also "Contrasts of Puritans, pilgrims and their reason for settlement". I will be telling you more but those are just a few that I will be telling you about. I will also be telling you what I think in the paragraphs too.
Georaphy
This paragraph will be all about the "geography." Did you know the soil was rocky. I don't think this is good because if they have rocky soil they can't grow crops. I would really try to make it not rocky by digging and taking out the rocks. Their climate was really warm in the summer and really cold in the winter. Did you know that they had a really shorts growing season. Their growing season was from late May to early October. I don't think this is fair because the other colonies had longer growing seasons, so they were able to grow more crops. The New England Colonies must have had to not eat as much food in a day so their food will last longer. For information about some of the "natural resources",stay here. One of their natural resources was fish. I bet this made their lives easier because then that means they were able to fish and able to get water quickly. Another one is wood. I think this is good because if there is a snow storm or some kind of storm they can be warm by making a fire. They are lucky because that means they are near woods so they can also hunt for animals such as deer, bird, and bear. They also had food as a natural resource. I forgot too say that the land was too rocky and sandy that they couldn't have forests or mountains. I feel really bad because I don't know how they were able to get hike and hunt because they weren't able to have forests or mountains.
Why the settlement of RI was settled
I will now be telling you the paragraph for "Why the settlement of RI was settled." The person who found RI was by Roger Williams. He settled there so he could live somewhere people believed what he believed. I don't think this is fair because he got kicked out and I think he had family members there. I bet Roger Williams was really tired by the time he got to RI because he bust have had to stay awake the whole time to know when he arrived at RI so he wouldn't miss his stop. I wonder if his stuff got soaked. I would really feel bad because then his clothes would be damp and his shoes would smell really bad and feel really icky and gross. I bet he really wanted to stay but still have people there that believed what he believed. I don't think those people are nice. I will be going on to the next paragraph now.
Colonial girl
This is a colonial girl. She is wearing
petticoat(3 layers), stockings, garters, waistcoat, colf, apron, pocket, and shoes.
colonial girl and boy
They are sitting on something. I wonder what they are starring at.
Rhode Island
This is Rhode Island. It is very very very very very very very pretty.
The life of a typical puritain girl
This paragraph will be all about "the life of a typical puritan boy and girl." Did you know that right after they wake up they have to start doing chores. I feel bad for them because they must have been really tired and might fall asleep while doing the chores. I also feel bad because I don't think they were able to eat breakfast first. One thing they had to do is roll the bedding into the corner. They also had to start fire in fire place, make pudding, set up table, serve parents first, feed chickens, milk the cows, pound spices, wash dishes, milk goats, and fetch water for family. I feel bad for them because they had a lot of chores to do everyday. Did you know that if they talked out of turn they would get whipped. I don't think that they should get whipped but just have to say sorry and write a sorry note and give it to the people that he cut off when that person was talking. Did you know that they puritans lived in villages. Also their houses were made out of wood logs and were not painted. An example if something they did in school is they drew letters in chalk. I think this is cool because then they can see them, remember them, put their head down, then try spelling them without looking. Another thing is their teachers gave them quizzes. I think that is cool because that is one thing we do in our life in school so they learned a little like us. Something they played with is a knicker box. I bet it would be fun to play with a knicker box. The things the girls wear are petticoat(3 layers), stockings, garters, waistcoat ,colf, apron, pocket, shoes. I think that is a lot of clothes. I think that is very strange that the girls have to wear 3 layers of petticoats. I bet they are very hot in all those clothes. I now will be going on to the next paragraph. I hope you learned a lot from this paragraph.
puritan women and men jobs and roles in home and family
Read to learn all about "puritan women and men jobs and roles in home and family." One of the things the Puritan men and boys did is fished and when they caught the fish they sold the fish to other families and people. I think this is cool because if men and boys couldn't fish families wouldn't have fish. An example the women and girls did was they made soaps, clothing and candles. I think this is important because then the family can save more money. Something else the men and boys did was plow the fields. The women and girls also weaved cloth and helped in fields during planting and harvesting seasons. The men and boys also worked in fields, planted crops like wheat and also corn ,built and and repaired building and tools, took care of peoples pets/animals if they needed them too ,bring in wood for fireplace, care for farm animals ,gather berries and veggies, plow fields and hunt. I think the men and boys did more work then the women and girls. Women and girls had to roll bedding into corner, start fire in fire place, make pudding, set up table, serve parents first, feed chickens, milk the cows, pound spices, wash dishes, milk goats, and fetch water for family. The women and girls had a lot of chores.
