Success will be discussed in our daily announcements and used when we are handing out Hornet Cards and nominating our students of the month.

  • Examples of ways to demonstrate the value or principle of “success” (not exhaustive).

    • Being engaged and participating

    • Being involved in extracurricular activities (sports, community events, etc.)

    • Have students make a goal and reflect on it

    • Redoing assignments and tests

    • Showing grit and/or resilience

    • Contacting the teacher for help or clarification

    • Self-advocating

    • Individual success or growth

November Yearbook Survey and Photo Contest

This month the yearbook survey and photo contest focus on holiday traditions, fall sports, kindness, and gratitude. Please use the link to access the flier digitally, then click on the underlined topics each week to complete the survey and submit photos. If your response or photograph is chosen to be published in the yearbook, a team member will reach out to interview and photo you. The contest is open the entire month of November, and students that participate will be entered into a drawing to win prizes such as candy bars, spirit wear, and a free yearbook.

Poinsettia Delivery Day - Volunteers Needed

It’s the most Wonderful Time of the Year – Its Poinsettia Delivery Day!

Please join us on WEDNESDAY, November 30th

We need TEAMS of people (one driver & one Poinsettia delivery person who pops out of the car) to drop off Poinsettias to all the local business recipients.

As a team, you will have 8 to10 deliveries all over the Treasure Valley, and your job is done! BONUS, you get to be the first to choose your Poinsettias as we load the rigs…now that is something worth volunteering for! We need to deliver 135 poinsettias for three of our clients on this day, so we need volunteers with BIG trunks to hold approximately 10 poinsettias.

Please reply to Jenn Barber at barberfamily@q.com with interest or any questions.

THANK you so much for your help and for giving back to East Junior High!!!

Poinsettia Sales:

We are SOLD OUT! Edwards Greenhouse generously helps our school raise PTO funds annually by providing gorgeous (and HUGE) poinsettias for us to sell. These locally grown beauties are the perfect gift for neighbors, family, friends, or co-workers. They are a truly spectacular way to start the holidays! Poinsettia pick up day is Nov. 30th.

Staff Appreciation Committee:

Many thanks to the following parents that helped with the East Junior High School Parent/Teacher Conference Dinners. We have a special set of teachers who care about our children and appreciate what we do for them. We are incredibly lucky and so glad we could do this for them! A special shout-out to the following people who gave their time, resources, and talents for the dinners:

  • The EJH STAFF! Great Parent/Teacher Conference setup!
  • Allyson Gatzemeier, Kelli Myers, Deb Heydt, and Lisa Lambert for providing and cooking potatoes.
  • Rachel Lalley and Christine Coombs for the chili and setup help.
  • Lindsay Barnes, Heather Atalla, and Amanda Wheelwright for the potato toppers.
  • Libby Wight, Rachel Sell, Shaundra Olson, and Lisa Chipman for desserts.
  • Jennifer Barber, Allyson Gatzemeier, Lisa Lambert, and Andrea Hill for salad, salad dressing, and veggies.
  • Dora Rivera and Andrea Hill for paper products and cutlery.
  • Adrianna Caldwell and Amy Weniger for the beverages.
  • Louise Stephens, Allyson Gatzemeier, and Catie Wiseman for help with planning, setup, and clean up.
  • Ms. Scott, for allowing us to use the Teen Living Kitchen! This was a huge help!
  • Mr. Gerber, for the pizza! Also that he supports our efforts and is always so appreciative.

Mix'em Up Trail Mix and Caramel Apple Bar!

The week before Thanksgiving, we thought we would put together a fun make-your-own-mix 'em-up bar so the teachers can enjoy their snacks in the lounge or take them back to their desks. Donation drop-off will be Monday, 11/14, and the bar will be set up Tuesday-Friday, 11/15-11/18. We created lots of opportunities to join in the fun!

Freshman Farewell:

Let's send the freshman off in style! Tradition at East Junior High is to Celebrate the 9th graders with a “going away party” as our final goodbye. Thank you to those that have signed up to support making this happen. If you missed the opportunity to sign up to volunteer, please email amberjeanpearson@gmail.com. The team will begin to plan in late November. To make this event memorable and available to all, we welcome donations to the cause. Please send checks payable to East Jr High PTO (Note Freshman Farewell) or Venmo @EastJrHigh-PTO

School Dances:

School dances are back!! The planning for these quarterly dances will be student-led, but we are looking for a chair(s) to help with communication and be the PTO liaison. Please let us know if you are interested in helping bring some fun back into our school! Contact Lindsay: lblainbarnes@hotmail.com

Open PTO Positions:

The East PTO Board is looking for a couple of great new members to take on leadership roles. These positions require minimal time and are a great way to engage in our East Community.

Vice President: This role helps coordinate volunteers and works on projects with chairs and the PTO Board. This position can be 1-2 years and usually assumes the role of the President.

Please contact Lindsay Barnes if you would like more information on either role. lblainbarnes@hotmail.com

East Sign Update:

The installation of our new information sign for the front of the school has been delayed, but we are still hopeful that it will run before the school year ends.

Thank you to those who contributed to the East Sign Campaign last spring. The sign will cost approx. $25,000! It is not too late to donate- Please make your check payable to BPSEF or East Junior High PTO. Donations are tax-deductible!

A HUGE Thank You to Dutch Bros. for supporting East with a very generous donation!!
