Principal Message:
TJ Families: Our teachers and staff are so excited that most of our students have returned. School looks different now, but our students and teachers are adjusting wonderfully to the "new normal".
I want to share some information about how some of our traditional activities are going to look different this year because of COVID. We will not be celebrating Halloween at school. Instead, we will be celebrating fall with a Spirit Week for ALL students. Whether your child is learning virtually or in-person, we hope that everyone will participate in the Fall Spirit Week each day. See the list of activities for each day in the section below.
Also, November 2nd will now be a an e-Learning Day and will be a non-attendance day for students. November 3rd is Election Day and all District 15 schools will be closed that day as well.
Finally, although parent teacher conferences will take place the week of Thanksgiving, this year they will be virtual. Your child's teacher will be sending out information on how you can sign up for a virtual conference with your child's teacher(s).
I wish everyone was back in the building and this was behind us and we were focused on other things, but that is not our present situation. Until that time comes, we will continue focusing on providing the best educational experience for your child.
No matter where your child is learning, they are a part of the awesome TJ Community.

Pick Up After School
Also, we are telling students to wait in front of the school, near the front doors, for their ride. We do not want any students getting into cars until their ride is near the front doors. These procedures are set up so the pick up flows efficiently and the line does not get backed up. Please follow the line, and continue moving up with the rest of the cars until you are in front of the school by the main doors. There are always adults outside to assist the car line and the students waiting to get picked up.
Finally, we ask that all adults wear a mask while outside waiting for students. If you need to get out of your car or you are meeting your child in front of the school to walk home, we ask that everyone is a positive role models and wear their masks while outside of their car.
All of these procedures are put into place to help keep everyone safe. and I thank you in advanced for helping us with our after school pick up.
Peace Pole
A Few Reminders
Remember to certify your child is symptom free each day by completing the certification questions on your child's lanyard. If you cannot find the lanyard, please notify your child's teacher and we will get you a new lanyard and certification card. As a reference, here are the questions you need to answer each day. On Fridays, we will collect the certification cards and give your child a new one for the following week.
If your child does happen to show any COVID-like symptoms during the school day, we will contact you and you will need you to pick up your child and any siblings. Also, if you keep a child home from school because he/she is sick, you will need to keep all the children home. For more information about the guidelines we follow, please refer to the District's Health Service Page
Lunch Menu information-If you need information about the lunch menu, please remember menus will be updated monthly and posted online along with any cooking instructions (if needed). For questions on the menu, please call 847-963-3928.
PTA News
TJ has a fantastic PTA. They are always supporting our school and enhancing every student's learning environment (in-person and virtually) through their work with the school. Our PTA meets typically meets the second Tuesday of every month. Their meetings are 7:15 and anyone participating can do so virtually.
I highly encourage TJ parents to join the PTA and attend these meetings when you can. The next meeting dates are November 10, December 8 and January 12. Usually there will be an email sent asking parents to reply back if they want to attend the meeting. The PTA will then send you a follow up email with the link to join the PTA meeting.
As our PTA co-presidents stated, "Every voice counts in the TJ PTA, and we want to hear from YOU".
