GIS Interest Meeting on Tuesday, September 1

Hello Class of 2024 GSA members!

The Global Issues Summit is GSA’s annual flagship event. GIS exists to turn awareness into action through an empowering summit. We bring in speakers to talk about many different issues in the world, non-profit groups set up tables and share information about their organizations, freshmen projects are presented, and we also have a showcase of cultural performances. It is extremely fun and rewarding experience.

GIS is 100% student run, and that is where you come in. GIS needs collaborative and diligent students to join the team and take on the challenge of planning this engaging and action-oriented experience for our community. Committee applications are opening, and this is a great opportunity for freshmen to get involved and meet a lot of other academy members. There are several committees (IT, decorations, hospitality, sponsorship, and more) which allow students multiple ways to share their talents.

If you think you might be interested, please join us Tuesday, September 1 at 3:30 to find out more. Please use the link below.

Spread Joy Through Cards and Notes for Senior Citizens

Bring smiles to isolated seniors through cards and letters. People of all ages are encouraged to volunteer! (Group activities also encouraged!)

Assisted living facilities aren't allowing visitors and some seniors are quarantined within their rooms due to COVID-19. Many seniors are feeling lonely, isolated, and bored while they can't see their loved ones. YOU can help keep cheer seniors up during this uncertain time by making cards or writing notes. They'll bring smiles to seniors' faces and remind them that they are not alone during this difficult time.

You will truly help many nursing home residents fight loneliness and isolation! Thank you for making a difference.

*Brighten A Day is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and we can verify your service hours.

3 Cards equal 1 hour of volunteering for GSA. You will need to upload pictures of the cards along with your service hours sheet. Volunteer HERE
