Safety Tip: Picking Up & Dropping Off

Our #1 concern is safety of our students. In order to keep our students safe we ask for your cooperation and make sure that you are parking on the same side of the street as the building when picking up or dropping off your child. This will limit the number of students that are crossing the street. Every year we encounter close calls with students crossing the street and oncoming traffic that is not looking out for students.

The front of the building is always the busiest flow of traffic before and after school. We encourage you to consider alternative options such as: behind the tennis courts or the alley off 20th St.

Need to Know: Issue #2

This edition's Need to Know covers important topics involving communication. You will find information on the following:

  • When do students hear school announcements?
  • How can I get messages to my child?
  • What's the best way to communicate with teachers?

PBIS Video

At the beginning of the year our students received instruction on following building-wide common area expectations. Our new students received more intensive instruction, while those returning received a refresher. See the video below to learn about our building expectations for students.

Picture Re-take Day

Lifetouch will be here taking school make-up pictures on Thursday, October 22nd at 12:30 PM. If students did not get their picture taken on Back to School Night and would like to order pictures, order forms are available in the Main Office for students to pick up. The link to the form is as follows: They should bring their order forms and payment with them on Thursday, October 22nd. This will be your final chance to order school pictures for this year.

If students ordered a package on Back to School Night and need them redone, please bring that packet along on make-up day.

Sports Competitions Begin

This week marked the start of our athletic competition season. On Thursday our 8th Grade Football, 7th & 8th Grade Volleyball, Boys' Tennis, and Cross Country competed across the city. We are excited to see the number of students active and involved. We encourage you to go and support our players and coaches at their competitions throughout the year. Be sure to check the Franklin website for all the dates, times, and locations for the upcoming games.

We will do our best to provide as many pictures as possible showcasing our teams.

Ways to Support Franklin

There are several ways families can support Franklin. Many of these ways can be accomplished without directly providing money. We accept Box Tops for Education, Hy-Vee receipts, and Target receipts. All of them come back in various amounts of monetary support. All three items can be dropped off in our main office.
