A Brief Biography of Walt Disney
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. As a teen he moved to KC to work a summer job as a train engineer for his uncle. Walt realized at a young age that he liked art, so he took a art and photography class to satisfy his love for drawing. Although Walt was a good student, he dropped out of school at the age of 16 so he could join the military, only to be turned down because he was under aged. He decided to got to France and join the red cross instead. Walt returned to Kc from france in 1919 and got a job. After getting a job as a newspaper artist, Walt then got a job at the Kansas City Film Ad Company, where he made animated commercials. Walt Disney had the idea of opening his own company, so he did and hired Fred Harman as his first Employee.
Walt Disney got his first cartoons, laugh-o-grams, shown at a local Kansas city theater. Walt's cartoons were so popular that he was able to buy his own studio that he could work from. Walt was able to hire a large number of employs and made a series of seven minute live action, animation fairy tails. They called this Alice in Cartoonland. by 1923, Walt Disney s company became overwhelmed in debt and declared bankruptcy. Because of this Walt and his brother, Roy, moved to Hollywood and started to distribute their Alice cartoon. They also created a new charter called, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. A few years later Walt created his most popular cartoon called Flowers and Trees. Walt impacted the 1920's by showing people what new technology was capable of doing, and how not all new technology was a bad thing.
Disney Land
Disneyland costed Walt Disney $17 million to create. Disneyland opened in 1955, and was a huge dream that Walt has had his whole life.
SteamBoat Willie
Steamboat Willie's main charter was Micky Mouse. Micky Mouse became the main Figure of Disney's company, and brought them lots of money.
Bambi
Walt Disney's film, Bambi, showed skills that no one had ever seen before, because a lot of the animals seemed to be way more realistic looking then animals in any other film.
