Hour of Code Playground
While the Hour of code playground was intended for teachers to explore, students stopped by in the hopes that their teachers would incorporate into their classroom a Hop Scotch Coding Dance Party, Rodocodo Cat is on a mission, and even coding one another in a cup stacking challenge.
The Hour of Code is an introduction to computer science, using fun, engaging activities. Schools typically engage in Hour of Code initiatives in December as part of Computer Science Education Week.
For pictures of the museum visit, please see the school's Google Doc folder.
Spirit Week Approaching
The Sunshine Squad (a before school activity) voted to hold a spirit week for all Sprague students next week. All students are welcome to participate in the events or just come to school dressed as their wonderful selves like any other day!
If your child is planning to participate, this is a great opportunity to help our young Wildcats share in the responsibility of remembering these fun events. You might consider having your child/children mark the calendar with your help or use a device to set an alarm or calendar reminder for the night before or day of.
Sports Day Monday: Dress to represent a favorite sport or team! Remember, if it's a favorite type of movement, it counts! Whatever you consider a sport IS a sport!
Fancy Dress Tuesday: Dress in your Tuesday best!
Holiday Wednesday: Dress to represent any holiday you enjoy!
Pajama Day Dance Party Thursday: Dress in your comfies and get ready to end the day heading into Winter Break with a dance party!
Lost & Found Growing
Please ask your child to visit the Lost and Found bins if something is missing. Water bottles, jackets, lunch boxes, and more can be found there. The school will donate unclaimed items. Do you see any of your student's belongings in the picture? Please remember to clearly write your child's name on these items. Items will be donated before Winter Break.

Navigating Sibling Rivalry
Dr. Siggie (Cohen) is back to discuss how parents can help navigate sibling rivalry and build better relationships through increased connection.
The D103 Parent Education team, in partnership with the Vernon Area Public Library, is excited to bring back Dr. Siggie, a child development specialist and parenting expert, to help us better understand sibling dynamics. Dr. Siggie will teach parents how to mediate arguments without taking sides. She will provide parents with practical tips that will help our children use these first relationships as a way to negotiate, emotionally regulate, and compromise, providing our children with important life skills that will help them navigate other important future relationships in their lives.
If you have a specific question you would like Dr. Siggie to address please fill out our anonymous questionnaire no later than Jan. 22.
