Among these will be Aimee Couto, Whiteknact Elementary teacher, and EP District Teacher of the Year, Cathy Cabral, another EP Elementary teacher who is being honored as Multi-Lingual Teacher of the Year, and EPHS CTC's very own Pati Piros who is being named the RI Computer Science Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Piros: Computer Science Teacher of the Year for RI
The Carol Giuriceo Computer Science Teacher of the Year Award is awarded to one outstanding educator from Rhode Island each year. The recipient this year is our very own Information Technology Program Teacher, Mrs. Patricia Piros.
Mrs. Piros was nominated by a committee made up of education and information technology professionals representing the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), University of Rhode Island, and private industry for being the most outstanding Tech Teacher in the State.
In honor of her achievement, RIDE invited Mrs. Piros to the annual WaterFire Educator Recognition Celebration on Saturday, September 24, 2022. This event is being hosted by the Rhode Island Department of Education to celebrate and honor RI educator awardees.
The East Providence High School Career and Tech Center is proud of Mrs. Piros for this accomplishment, and grateful to have her as one of our veteran instructors. She has excelled over the years at providing authentic experiences, helping to place students in internships and meaningful hands-on work-based learning experiences. She regularly gives up her time after school, on weekends, and during the summer to work with students in extra curricular activities such as the Cybersecurity Camp, and managing the school website. Furthermore, Mrs. Piros is constantly engaged in professional development to improve her craft and be able to keep her students up to date with the latest trends in Information Technology.
We salute you Mrs. Piros! Congratulations, and Enjoy this well-deserved recognition!
