The 2018 Summer Olympics!

In Kingston, Jamaica

What are the meanings of the Olympic Rings and their colors?

The rings of blue, black, yellow, red and green, which make up one of the most recognized symbols in the world, traditionally represent the five different areas of the world involved in the Olympics (North and South America are considered one area, along with Africa, Australia, Asia and Europe).

Here is the athlete's olympic pledge

"In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules that govern them, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and the honour of our teams."

Here is the future athlete's pledge

"We promise to follow the rules and be fair and truthful to the sport and the other competitors, we will do our best and never give up."

This is the Olympics creed

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."

The future version of the creed

"We will not take any of this for granted and we will not waste any of our time messing around with things that will get us no where. Just because you do t win the games doesn't mean that you aren't already a winner. So even if we don't win we will enjoy the time we have spent doing what we love and try our hardest."

What does the torch symbolize?

The flame of the Olympic torch is a reminder of the Greek figure Prometheus, who gave humans with fire stolen from Zeus, starting the development of civilization.

The future torch and it's meaning

The torch symbolizes the fire that is lit under the athletes every couple years that the Olympics come around so that they will work hard to achieve their dreams.

Here is a highlight from the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony

One of the evening's most memorable moments featured Queen Elizabeth II, 86, showing off her comedic chops in a pre-taped video with Daniel Craig, 44, as James Bond. In the clip, the duo left Buckingham Palace, climbed into a helicopter and parachuted into the Olympic Stadium. (Her Royal Highness and the actor used stunt doubles, of course.)

Things to look for in the future opening ceremony

Some things that we will include is we will have acrobats, there is also going to be a big firework show at the end. There will be cupcakes too with the Olympic Rings.
