Oprah Winfrey Overcoming Obstacles

Oprah's Obstacle
As a toddler Oprah lived with her grandmother because her mother, Vernita Lee was a single teenager. While Oprah lived with her she was beaten and abused by her grandmother and raped by male family members. Oprah was also denied a good education.
At the age of six Oprah went to live with her mother in Wisconsin. Her mother worked long hours as a maid, this caused Oprah to be neglected. Also she sexually abused by her mothers boyfriend. At the age of thirteen she ran away from home and decide to turn to drugs and misbehaving.
Oprah's Education
About a year later Oprah moved to Tennessee to live with her father. Her father made her education a high priority in her life. Oprah attended Nashville East High School where she took drama and public speaking classes. After Oprah attended a public speaking contest she received a full scholarship to Tenseness State University.

Oprah's Career
Oprah started of doing small broadcasting jobs but, in 1978 she took the job to be the talk show host of The People Are Talking. Oprah become very well know as her career started rising. She then became the host of A.M Chicago, and was later renamed The Oprah Winfrey Show after it became the highest rated talk show in Chicago.
