LPS High Schools take on PBIS in 20-21

This fall, the three high schools will each send a team to be trained throughout the course of the 20-21 school year. At Liberty Academy, the team will consist of Art, Chad, Mark, and Melissa.

What is PBIS?

Who has Class E??

Come on, LA, keepin' it classy with your very own CLASS E License! Remember, 100% of staff who could be driving students should have this completed by August 25th this year!

Who forgot to water the money tree?

I know this comes as no surprise to you, but the financial situation is one that we will need to be thinking about when we return to school in the fall. Because the district froze our budgets as soon as COVID hit, it helped put us in a better position when the money was withheld from school districts in May and June. However, as I'm sure you've seen, there are more cuts to K-12 coming. LPS is doing their best to stay on top of this by making smart decisions NOW.

In a nutshell, we spend most of our budget on supplies for student projects AND transportation. We are at a critical time where we need to think about how to reduce costs. Art has taken on the coordination of trips in a way that has maximized our dollar, and he even has shared some ideas for an even more cost efficient way of transporting our students. Even if we continue transportation as status quo, I want everyone to start thinking about how we can more efficiently offer the personalized paths at Liberty Academy--especially in a time where we are being asked to do with less. Several of us have discussed ideas such as student-led fundraisers (local restaurants, SAVERS, etc), grants (hey, we should get a pottery wheel), or Market Day where kids can sell/auction items to replenish the budget. I'm asking that right now you be mindful of ideas for what we can do differently to impact the bottom line.
