Adolescent Accelerated Reading Initiative

Dates: July 21, 22, 23, & 24; July 28, 29, 30, & 31

Time: 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Location: GISD Davis Education Center

Cost: $3500

Description: A Tier-2 Intervention for students in grades 3-12. This Initiative focuses on building academic literacy and is designed to bring students to grade level quickly.

“Reading in the Wild” Twitter Book Study

Reading Recovery Assessment Training

EMATHS: Algebra 1

Dates: June 23, 24, 25, & 26 and August 1, 12, 13, &14

Time: 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Description: EMATHS engages teachers with the content, pedagogy, and use of embedded technology that is needed to support students in developing proficiency with the Common Core State Standards for content and practices. The goals of this series are to:

  • increase content knowledge and deepen insights into mathematics
  • maximize the effective use of technology in instruction
  • increase use of research-based pedagogies to incorporate more effective use of classroom discourse, inquiry, and mathematical modeling
  • deepen understanding of formative assessment for improved instruction in Algebra I

Rigorous Reading: 5 Access Points for Comprehending Complex Texts

Description: This webinar book study will begin with a face-to-face session to introduce the study and share how to interact in a webinar environment. Participants will learn strategies to support students in accessing complex text. This study is relevant to content area teachers who utilize text in the classroom.

Enhancing Practice through Lab Classrooms

A Repair Kit for Grading: Twitter Book Study for Probationary Teachers

Description: This online book study will provide a framework for new teachers to consider their grading practices in a collaborative format this summer.
