Description of Research Chemicals
Research chemicals are chemicals, usually consisting of a carbon or silicon base, that are made in a laboratory and sold online often of the dark web. The drug mimics the intense psychedelic feeling of acid, but with the near death experience feeling of ketamine.
Effects (short and long term)
Short term effects include a euphoric state of the user and increased blood pressure, heart rate, and paranoia. The drug was invented in 2010, so no long term study has been done, but it is theorized that it leads to brain damage specifically in the frontal lobe (decision making).
Research Chemicals Overview
Research chemicals, also referred to as 25i, 25ic, and NBOMe, are extremely dangerous to the user as it creates a false reality that the user tries to escape, often hurting or possibly killing themselves. There is no pharmaceutical value to research chemicals. Drug users are believed to be from 12-25, but since the drug emerged nearly five years no statistics have been run on the drug. The drug can come in the form of a liquid to inject, pill form, or in a tab like acid. Overdosing is common, since the drug is unpopular, many don't understand how to take it and try to maximize the effects, ultimately shutting down their brain. There are no withdraw symptoms as research chemicals are not addictive. Technically buying the drug and carrying it around is not illegal because it is under "research" but consumption of the drug is making it a schedule 1 for illegal users.
