Family Engagement Findings
June 1, 2018
A Note from Kimberly
I will continue to work in the summer, but I always look forward to slower traffic, having more down time in the evenings with my family, and longer days of sunlight.
It's been a great school year and I have enjoyed all the opportunities I've had to connect with you and the family engagement work you do!
I look forward to our continued relationship!
I am in the process of finalizing the 2018-2019 Parent Trainings and 2018-2019 Family Engagement Professional Development offerings. Once I get everything confirmed, I'll put the information together in an easy to share format and send it to you for your future planning.
If you haven't already done so, please share your feedback on the survey I sent out yesterday. I really do consider everything shared to help me grow the Family Engagement Program here at ESC-20. Thank you!

Hope you have the best summer ever! Please reach out to me over the summer if there's anything I can do to assist with your Family Engagement planning!
Many blessings,
Kimberly

Parent Innovation Institute: Co-creating Solutions with Parents
Parents’ voices should be heard, especially in a diverse area like the Fruitvale neighborhood in Oakland, California. Fruitvale is a vibrant corridor for community services, cultural events, and shopping, yet it also sits at the intersection of many contentious community issues like housing, immigration, employment, health care, and early education, all of which compete for increasingly scarce public dollars. It is in the context of these opportunities and challenges that The Early Learning Lab piloted the first Parent Innovation Institute in Fruitvale. In this blog, we share our framework.
An Innovative Learning Space: The Parent Innovation Institute
The Parent Innovation Institute is a learning space for bringing together families and parent-serving organizations via hands-on workshops and coaching. Through the institute, we seek to develop individual parent leadership, strengthen the early-childhood learning ecosystem, and improve programs and services for families with young children throughout the community.
