WATER BOTTLES - Please have your student(s) bring a water bottle daily to school. We don't provide water containers to use at the filling stations and the water fountains are shut off due to Covid restrictions.

EARLY DISMISSAL/PARENT PICK UP - When possible, please call ahead or send a note with your child to bring to the office if you need to pick them up early. This way, we can have them waiting for you in the office and save you time from having to wait while we track down your student.

~ ~ ~ ~ CELEBRATING HISPANIC HERITAGE ~ ~ ~ ~

It's Hispanic Heritage Month! The idea for Hispanic Heritage Month celebrated throughout the latter half of September and the first half of October began as a way to promote the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans - specifically those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Communities mark the achievements of Hispanic and Latino Americans with festivals and educational activities.

WASHINGTON STATE VOLUNTARY HEALTHY YOUTH SURVEY * * SEE BOTH ENGLISH & SPANISH INFORMATIONAL LETTERS ATTACHED BELOW

Dear North Lake families,

6th Grade students at North Lake Middle School will be participating in the voluntary Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2021. The survey will be given to all 6th graders on Tuesday October 12th during their Wellness class.

The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity and diet, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, sexual behaviors, abuse, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities and state agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the students’ answers are anonymous.

We will be administering the survey online this year. No privacy issues were identified in the E-survey pilot conducted in 2019. This year, schools and districts are being instructed to disable any recording, keystroke tracking, and video capture software on school-issued devices used to take the survey.
