Principal's Newsletter
April 2019
Note from the Principal's Desk
Can you believe there is only 9 more weeks of school left?! The next two months are going to be very busy. Mark your calendars for all the dates below.
Lastly, we are seeing an increase in parents bringing lunches for their students during the lunch period. While there is not necessarily an issue with this practice, we have had at least 7 incidents in the last month where the parent is not on time and the students become very upset. If you must drop off your student's lunch, please try to do so prior to their lunchtime to avoid any anxiety for your student. Thank you for your understanding.

Classroom Preference Form
The teachers and administration at Buena Vista Elementary work diligently to create classrooms that will work well together. Please understand that to ensure balanced classrooms that will enhance learning for ALL students, consideration of many factors, including but not limited to academic and social considerations, total class size, male/female ratio, and heterogeneous grouping are used in the placement decisions as required by the Ed. Code. The final decision on all student placements rests with the principal. Parent input and classroom environment requests will be considered - but NOT GUARANTEED.
In the next few months, we will begin to place students in tentative classrooms for next fall. Below you will find an electronic form to request specific learning environments for your student. This year this form is the only method we will use to collect classroom preference requests. Please only include information for one student per entry. Submission of this form is due no later than May 24th. Please contact Kelly Eagan with questions.
The Youth Truth Survey is coming!
In May we will be releasing the link for the Youth Truth Survey. We resist the urge to send surveys throughout the year with the intention of focusing on this very valuable survey. I can personally say I read each and every comment that gathered last year.
