GPPSS Update

Elementary Conference Letter/Report Card Update
Last year, the administration met with a committee of elementary teachers and stakeholders to gather input regarding the Y5-4th grade report card. The committee reviewed current report cards, researched best practices, and reviewed peer district report cards. The committee determined that GPPSS would shift the time frame of more formal feedback from trimesters to semesters. For the 2021-22 school year, in October and March during parent teacher conferences, a reporting tool will be shared with families to present information and opportunities for growth for students. The standards based report card that you are accustomed to receiving will be available in February and June. Conferences and report cards help build the partnership between home and school to create a supportive learning environment that will benefit student growth and progress.
Our focus continues to be literacy and numeracy at the elementary level. At the elementary conferences this year, your child’s teacher will present a Conference Report. The Conference Report will include progress in reading and writing, test scores from NWEA, as well as additional teacher comments for areas of growth and parent input. Parents will discuss the Conference Report and receive a copy (electronic or hard copy) during fall conferences that will take place this week on October 13 and 14, and again during Spring Conferences in March. The Conference Report is developed to provide feedback while identifying areas of potential growth to help set goals through a learning partnership for the school year.
A standards based report card will be provided to families at the end of each semester. The report card will be available to families on the Parent Portal on February 1, 2022 and June 27, 2022. Directions for accessing the report card through Parent Portal will be provided closer to the end of each semester.
We believe the shift to an elementary Conference Report, combined with the Standards Based Report Card two times per year, will provide more information about growth and progress throughout the school year. We look forward to partnering with you to create a successful learning environment for your child.
