From the Principal
Dear Hawkins Families!
Our Autism Awareness Week was a huge success. Our Student Lighthouse Team counted up $947.67 of donations for Autism Speaks! Wow! Thank you for all of your donations! That is amazing!!!
It is hard to believe that it is already time to begin the process of placing students with teachers for the 2019/20 school year. Although teacher styles may differ from teacher to teacher, the content of the curriculum remains the same within the grade level. A great deal of time and effort is given to grouping children into classes. Our primary concern is to establish productive, balanced classrooms where each child has the opportunity to be successful and is challenged to do their best. If you feel you have compelling information to contribute to the placement decision, our Placement Consideration Forms are available in the office. Please complete the form and submit it to the main office by April 30, 2019. This additional information will help assist us in the construction of balanced classrooms. Please remember that requests for a specific teacher cannot be honored.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Jump Rope for Heart/Hoops Campaign
We will be having our annual Jump Rope for Heart/Hoops for Heart campaign. I personally have been doing JRH for 28 years. It is a great program and benefits an outstanding organization in the American Heart Association. Your child will be bringing home an envelope next week for this event for the Fundraising Campaign for the American Heart Association. Your child does not have to fundraise to participate in the class event. Last year we raised over $10,000! Our goal this year is to get over $10,000, again. Much of it was done online, which makes it easy for everyone. All the information for the event will be on the envelope, magnet and information sheet. Donations can be in the form of a Check, Online or Cash. We will be having our event 4/8 – 4/10 and it will take place during their PE class. The money will be due by APRIL 12 . Last year the MONSTERS were the craze and this year there are the HEART HEROES for the kids to go crazy over!
In order for the kids to win the prizes they must collect donations. As a bonus, The Top 5 Fundraisers will win special prizes that I personally hand out.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at Hawkins.
Thanks,
Dan D’Arcy
