Be Proactive and Take Care of Student Registration Now!
IMPORTANT BUS INFORMATION:
Northwest ISD is excited to partner with Reliant and parent company MV Transportation for student transportation for the 2018-2019 school year.
Northwest ISD and Reliant Transportation, the school district’s busing service provider, will provide families with information on 2018-19 bus routes on Friday, Aug. 17.
Bus route information will be available online through a link to the Versatrans service on the transportation department website, and letters will also be emailed to every registered student on that day as well.
To be added to a bus route, families of registered students must have completed residency verification and any paperwork requests. Additionally, a student’s campus must have released them in the system so Reliant Transportation can add him or her to a bus route. Please take care of all registration and residency verification by August 13.
If a student’s family waits too long to submit residency verification or outstanding paperwork, a child’s inclusion in routing could be delayed until after the third week of school, as bus routes are frozen beginning Wednesday, Aug. 15. No changes to bus routes after this date will be made until Monday, Sept. 10. A student who meets transportation requirements but missed the residency and paperwork deadline may be able to wait at a bus stop near his or her home, but that stop may not be within a short walking distance until changes are made to routes.
To ensure a child who meets transportation requirements is included in bus routing data, please submit enrollment, proof of residency and any required documents as soon as possible. This be completed by August 13.
We are very excited to share that NISD has a new fleet of buses! Our new fleet of buses are all equipped with seat belts, and according to the Department of Transportation, if a bus has seat belts, students must wear them. We encourage all families to watch this short video about our new buses and the new seat belt rules.
2018 -2019 Student Registration:
PowerSchool operated a new process this year, sending the parents or guardians of returning students a link and code for children to register them for the 2018-19 school year. Each student will have their own unique snapcode and email. Emails were sent in June and July.
Through PowerSchool, most information for returning students will already appear filled out based on existing records. Parents and guardians will just need to verify or update existing information and provide proof of residency. For parents and guardians of returning students, this proof of residency can be submitted either online, at one of the summer central registration days (seen in the chart below) or at a student's campus.
Examples of accepted proof of residency documents include a current utility bill (not a phone bill), lease or closing papers (for 30 days until a utility bill is available). If living with a friend or relative within Northwest ISD, an affidavit must be completed, notarized and provided to the school's front office along with a current utility bill.
Online enrollment AND residency verification should be completed no later than Tuesday, Aug. 21, to ensure all information has been processed and schedules can be completed by the first day of school. Northwest ISD's 2018-19 school year begins Monday, Aug. 27.
HOWEVER...If your child will need bus transportation, the registration and residency verification process must be completed by Monday, August 13 in order for the student to be added to a bus route.
Please note, a child should be enrolled by a parent, guardian or a person with control under a court order. For more information, contact your child's campus.

Seven Hills Staff Update:
Everyone who knows Seven Hills would agree that Ms. Dora is a pillar in our community. She has dedicated 20 years of her life to caring for the students, staff, and families at Seven Hills. She has been instrumental in making families feel welcome and cared for the minute they walked in the door at Seven Hills. Dora has decided to retire. We would all agree that the time to take care of herself is well deserved after taking care of all of us for so many years! Recently, Dora told Mrs. Blackburn that she was so appreciative of the opportunities and experiences she has had over the years, and considers it a rich blessing that she was able to be a part of the lives of so many Seven Hills families. While we wish her well, we want her to know that she will be greatly missed. A retirement celebration will be planned for after the start of the school year to celebrate Dora’s legacy.
